Roofing and Profiles (Fiji) Limited, a subsidiary of RC Manubahi Group, has become the sole distributor of Kingspan roof and wall insulations in Fiji and the Pacific.

The launch of the product range was done by the Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism, Faiyaz Siddiq Koya, yesterday.

Mr Koya said having this internationally-renowned brand in Fiji and the Pacific was the recognition of the demand for high quality products in region.

He said it also indicated the ever increasing market power of Roofing and Profiles (Fiji) Limited in the region.

“Kingspan is a global leader in high performance insulation, building fabric, and solar integrated building envelopes,” he said.

“Kingspan delivers high efficiency, low cost & low carbon building solutions across a broad range of market sectors.

Roofing and Profiles (Fiji) Limited will now be distributing three brands of roofing and wall insulation, all of which are manufactured to Australian standards – Kingspan, Air-cell and Kooltherm.

Benefits for people Mr Koya said the availability of such an extensive range of high performance insulations for roofs and walls will make homes and buildings more energy efficient.

He said it will cut back on health and safety risks due to their durable, fi brefree constitution and offer a host of other benefits that make our homes and buildings safer and more sustainable.

“This is in line with our Government’s goal of reducing the risk of house fi res – an increasing cause of heartache for the Fijian people,” he said.

“Technical assessments have indicated that low quality insulation can facilitate the spread of a house fi re. “While minimum fi re ratings are in place for roof insulation materials, today in the market we still find insulation material not up to code.”

Following standards Mr Koya further stressed the importance of importers and manufacturers to follow the law and maintain the standards established for building materials.

“Selling or constructing with material not up to fi re safety code compromises the safety and livelihoods of ordinary Fijians and will not be tolerated,” he has cautioned.

“As the Minister responsible for trade, industry development and standards, I am confident that Roofing and Profiles (Fiji) Limited’s partnership with Kingspan will increase the overall quality of insulation materials in the market.

“This will thereby reduce the risks posed to Fijians by lower quality materials.

“The standards by which we operate are a crucial aspect of our success in the international trade system — and to improve Fiji’s competitive position we must have in place efficient and effective infrastructure.

“The onus is on industry players and the Fijian Government to ensure that our infrastructure meets the national and international standards of the marketplace.

“Fiji is the hub of the pacific in terms of trade, travel, communication and logistics — let’s keep it that way by preventing the sale and manufacture of sub-standard products.”.
