Caroline Wozniacki: 'Everyone needs to move on from my Rory McIlroy split'
Tennis star Caroline Wozniacki has urged the media to "move on" from her split with golfer Rory McIlroy.
The former sports power couple ended their engagement in May of last year when McIlroy ended the relationship in a three minute phone call, just days after their wedding invitations were sent.
He issued a press release soon after and Wozniacki said she has been vocal about their split because her ex made it "really public".
"At that point, I didn’t really have a choice but to speak out, because obviously Rory made it really public from the start,” she told the New York Post.

"Everybody was asking me questions and expecting me to say something. I just thought it was more important for me to talk out loud once and get it over with.”
Wozniacki was recently linked to NFL player JJ Watt and Rory has been dating PGA employee Erica Stoll since late last year, but the Danish athlete said it bothers her when people still bring up her former relationship.
"I am so much further along in my life, and I’m so much happier now," she says of life after the break-up.
"I don’t think there is a reason to go back. Obviously, that relationship taught me so much and made me the person I am today, but at this point, I am like, I’ve moved on, Rory has moved on, and I am ready for the media to move on."

In the interview, the 25-year-old also divulged the reason for cutting her long blonde locks at the behest of Vogue Editor Anna Wintour, whom she met at New York Fashion Week earlier this year.
"When Anna Wintour says you should cut your hair, you cut your hair,” she explained.
"She knows what she’s talking about."
