Two Keralites killed in TN road accident

Two women hailing from Idukki district of Kerala died when a truck hit their car from behind at Thirumangalam in Tamil Nadu in the early hours of Wednesday.

MADURAI: Two women hailing from Idukki district of Kerala died when a truck hit their car from behind at Thirumangalam in Tamil Nadu in the early hours of Wednesday.
Police identified the victims as Saroja alias Jansi (26), wife of J Michael Alwin (32) of Upputhurai near Peermade in Kerala, and Alwin’s sister Jasmine.
Alwin, who sustained grievous injuries in the accident, was admitted to Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai.

Police said Alwin and others had been going to Sivakasi from Tirupur when the accident happened. Though they hailed from Kerala, they were staying in Tirupur for business purpose.
Alwin was driving the car. The accident happened when he applied brake to prevent the car from hitting a two-wheeler that entered the main road from another road. A truck, which was following the car, hit it from behind. The car was thrown a few metres away, and the truck toppled.
The Kallikudi police registered a case and conducted investigations. They arrested truck driver Palanisamy.
