Mayor wants to know what you think about Newton Centre parking

Mayor Setti Warren is asking the public to weigh in on what they think about parking in Newton Centre before any plans to make improvements move forward. The city will hold two parking “pop-up” workshops on Sept. 10, at the Newton Centre Green from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and the Newton Centre MBTA stop on Union Street from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. In case of rain, the sessions will be rescheduled to the following Thursday, Sept. 17. In addition, a five-minute online survey is available at www.newtoncentreparkingsurvey.com. Study updates and announcements will be posted on the city’s website, www.newtonma.gov. The study is covering all on-street parking spaces and public and private lots within a quarter mile of the village center, at Beacon and Centre streets. A meeting to present “initial strategies and recommendations” will be scheduled for October, and a final report is expected to be completed by December.
