Vyapam scam case magistrate in Raipur threatened
RAIPUR: In yet another curious twist to the infamous Vyapam scam, Raipur’s Additional chief judicial magistrate (ACJM), Prabhakar Gwal, who had convicted five persons for leaking the boards' 2011 PMT examination paper, conducted in Chhattisgarh, has accused a BJP MLA of threatening him and his family.
Gwal, who had announced the judgement in the paper leak case on July 17, has filed a written complaint with the police, alleging that a person claiming to be BJP’s legislator from Saraipali constituency, Ramlal Chouhan, had entered his court’s private chamber at about 2.20 PM on Aug 7 and threatened him.
In his complaint, Gwal has said besides threatening him and his family of dire consequences, the legislator had also threatened to get him involved in criminal cases by the CID and SIB.
While the Raipur police have started investigations on the ACJM’s complaint, Chauhan has categorically denied threatening Gwal. When contacted on phone, Chauhan, claimed that he had never ever gone to the ACJM’s chamber.
Chouhan however, claimed that knew Gwal, as he too hailed from his constituency. “His wife had applied for a Congress ticket from Saraipali and I was the BJP nominee”, he said.
He said he was “shocked” and “disheartened” by these allegations. “In my entire political career I have never even raised my voice while talking to people so how can I threaten anyone”, he said while attributing political motives behind the allegations.
Efforts to contact Gwal for his comment proved futile.
