Ahly's Gabonese striker Malick Evouna will miss their friendly match with Spanish side Getafe. He will be away with the Gabon national team.

"Evouna has been called up to play for Gabon in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. He is free to decide what date he joins their training camp on," Ahly said in an online statement on Tuesday.

The Reds will be hosted by Getafe on 3 September as part of their preparations for the new season.

"The squad will travel to Spain on Saturday ahead of the Getafe match," Ahly announced.

Ahly are already shorn of eight key players, away with Egypt's national team. Evouna's absence will heap more woe on Ahly's frontline, with Ghanaian striker John Antwi recently sidelined for six weeks due to injury.

Ahly signed Evouna in July off Morocco's Wydad Casablanca for a reported fee of $2.4m, one of Egypt's biggest transfers.

He featured three times for Ahly scoring one goal in the Egypt's Cup.

The highly-rated striker was the Moroccan league's top-scorer with 16 goals last season. He made his international debut in 2012.

Ahly, holders of a record 36 Egyptian Premier League titles, failed to win a ninth successive title last season as arch-rivals Zamalek ended their 11-year drought.

The Reds are currently defending their Africa Confederation Cup title, recently qualifying for the semis alongside Zamalek, Etoile du Sahel and Orlando Pirates.
Spanish club Getafe finished 14th in La Liga last season with 37 points.
