Bryan Oviedo hopes he is finally over his injury hell as he prepares to make his first start for Everton since February against Barnsley on Wednesday.

Roberto Martinez has confirmed that Oviedo is fully fit and will start for Everton at left-back at Oakwell in the Capital One Cup tie.

Oviedo has had a nightmare with injuries since breaking his leg in January 2014, which ruled him out of the World Cup.

He returned last autumn, but then picked up a hamstring injury followed by a broken toe to bring a premature end to his campaign.

"Bryan has been very, very unfortunate over the last year or so," he said. "He's been working really hard in pre-season and he has been fantastic in training yesterday.

"He looks like a young boy with an opportunity and we are all very excited about seeing Bryan back on the pitch."

Brendan Galloway is set to miss out with his knee injury and Martinez says he could be a doubt for England Under-21s after being called up today.

"It's too early to say if he will be available for the Under-21s," he said.
