Bulgaria has the right to use its army, in order to guard its borders, said EC spokesperson Natasha Bertaud for the BNR, commenting the sending of military personnel along the border with Macedonia and Serbia. She underlined that the member-states were responsible for the protection of their external borders and all the measures included were within the national authorities. The EC reminded that currently it had opened 32 infringement procedures against different members for violation of the legislation, related to home security, migration and asylum. Bulgaria is also in a procedure of that kind for not complying with the Qualification Directive, establishing common grounds to grant international protection.
