Women 'still not getting promoted' - Cardiff uni expert

Women managers in Wales are effectively working for free for nearly an hour every day, a professional body claims.

The management gender pay gap stands at an average of £3,188 - or 13%.

Although this is less than the UK average of 22%, the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) said it was still "unacceptable".

Dr Alison Parken, who has researched working patterns in Wales, said there was a difference between sectors that women worked in and within workplaces themselves.

She told BBC Wales economics correspondent Sarah Dickins that women were still facing obstacles to promotion if they took time out in their careers.
