There are rumors that HTC is preparing to launch the HTC One M10 or HTC O2. If it launches, the handset will be the company’s latest flagship, with the most powerful features in the line yet.

Christian Today wrote that there are speculations that HTC will no longer use the One M name and instead, go for the name HTC O2. The new device will run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, which will be more efficient than its predecessor, the 810 chipset. The upgraded processor will solve the various issues that surfaced on the 810, such as overheating.

The HTC One M10 is said to feature either a 5-inch or 6-inch Quad HD touchscreen, 4GB of RAM, an internal storage capacity of 64GB and 128GB and a 3,500mAh battery. The handset may also have a 20-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front shooter. The HTC O2 may also include a Touch ID and fingerprint scanner.

There are also rumors that the device may be waterproof. The body of the new device might be very much the same as the M9. It may have a display resolution of 1440 x 2560 QHD, which would be better compared to the 5-inch HD display with 1080p resolution of the HTC One M9, based on a report by Day Herald. The device might run on the new Android Marshmallow upon launch. Some users expect the product to retail anywhere between $650 and $800.

HTCM10One.com cited that the handset may run on the Qualcomm 82X with 3.X GHz octa-core HMP cyclone technology. It will also have dual-SIM support (nano-version), a 27-megapixel front and rear sensor camera with phase detection auto-focus technology and a 5-inch display with 2K / 4K resolution. There may be two powerful stereo speakers, a heart rate sensor and a new design. Aside from being waterproof, the flagship device may also be dustproof certified.

TechRadar also mentioned a number of user wishes for the HTC One M10. Many hoped that it will have a more storage space, a more powerful battery and a redesigned power button, among others. They expect more revolution than evolution, giving them the same kind of excitement when the original HTC One was unveiled in 2013.

As for the release date, there are talks that the HTC One M10 will launch before the end of 2015. However, if the company follows the launch pattern of the HTC One M9, the flagship smartphone might become available in the first or second quarter of 2016.
