Films are not just about glitz and glamour. There’s a lot of hard work that goes into making any movie, and several of them require action-packed scenes. While using a stunt double was the norm earlier, more and more Kannada stars are choosing to do the action themselves. Sometimes, though, things don’t go according to plan and the actors end up sustaining injuries, which have, on occasions, put them out of action.Ragini Dwivedi, Dhananjaya and Parul Yadav all recently hurt themselves while shooting for their respective movies. Ragini Dwivedi Film: Naane — Next CM Injured: Head While shooting an action sequence in Mysuru recently, Ragini was inadvertently hit on the head with a baseball bat by a stuntman. The actress was rushed to hospital, and treated for external trauma.
Parul Yadav Film: Killing Veerappan Injured: Leg
Parul sustained a ligament injury while shooting for Killing Veerappan, which put her out of action for a few days. While she has temporary relief with painkillers, she might have to undergo surgery to repair the damage.
Dhananjaya Film: Vijayaaditya Injured: Leg During his introduction fight scene in his upcoming film Vijayaaditya, Dhananjaya fell off a horse and the horse then fell on his leg. The actor suffered a meniscus tear, due to which he had to rest for three months.
Amulya Film: Maduveya Mamatheya Kareyole Injured: Leg Amulya plays a tomboy in her upcoming movie Maduveya Mamatheya Kareyole, and the role required her to ride a bike. Since she had not ridden a two-wheeler in a long time, she fell and suffered a hairline fracture during a practice session. Amulya was advised complete rest for 10 days.
J Karthik Film: Matthome Shh... Injured: Leg J Karthik was shooting a chase sequence on a horse, when the horse in front of him suddenly stopped and kicked back, its hind leg landing on the actors shin, leaving him with a swollen leg that kept him out of action for a few days.
Darshan Film: Brundaavana Injured: Neck The actor sustained not one, but two injuries while filming Brundaavana. Darshan first fell and hurt his neck while shooting in Mandya district. The injury was only aggravated after he fell off a horse while shooting a song in Iceland. He was rushed to a Bengaluru hospital when the pain aggravated.
Yash Film: Gajakessari Injured: Leg A freak fall during the shoot for the actor’s introduction song, for which he was in a period costume, left him with a sprained leg. While it was initially thought to be a minor injury, it turned out to be quite bad, with the actor ruled out of action for about a month.
Shivarajkumar Film: Aryan Injured: Head Shivarajkumar chose to do most of his stunts for the film Aryan. The actor injured his head when a cycle chase scene was being canned in Singapore. Shooting was stalled immediately after the incident and the actor flown to Europe for expert treatment. His wife, Geetha, was on the set when the accident took place.
