Miscreants vandalise TP Chandrashekaran memorial

KOZHIKODE: The martyr’s square of Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) leader T. P. Chandrashekaran at Vallikkad was vandalised around Sunday midnight. Miscreants completely damaged a star and a board placed on top of the structure.

Reacting to the incident, RMP activists enforced a hartal at Vallikkad till 2pm on Monday. Vehicles passing through Vallikkad were blocked for more than two hours.

According to RMP state secretary N. Venu, the miscreants behind this were CPM activists, who had tried to damage it earlier also.

No serious action had been taken by the police, which had encouraged CPM activists to attack the memorial square again, he said at a protest meeting.

K. K. Rema, RMP Onchiyam area secretary Kulangara Chandran and Chorood local secretary K. K. Sadhashivan also spoke at the meeting. Hundreds of RMP activists gathered at the spot to protest against the development.
