Live in Jim Morrison’s old California apartment building

A West Hollywood, Calif. apartment building where rock legend Jim Morrison is said to have resided near the end of his life is being marketed to investors for $2.99 million, reports say.

“The owner states that this was the last known US residence of … Doors rockstar Jim Morrison,” says the listing. “It was also the location of [his] last interview with Ben Fong Torres for Rolling Stone.” Morrison moved to Paris in 1971; later that year, he passed away.

Located at 8214 Norton Ave., the existing structure is a six-unit building, says its listing (though public records say it has five), with two bedrooms per apartment. A buyer can either keep the building as is or snatch the plot for a future development opportunity, as it’s zoned for up to eight condo units.

But there’s another option. The building’s owner, Cheri Woods, previously aimed to convert it into a historically designated bed and breakfast. However, the West Hollywood Historic Preservation Commission indefinitely shelved the landmarking request last year, asking that Woods provide additional documentation that Morrison indeed lived there, according to Curbed.

“If you choose to proceed, plans have been filed and is one step away … with the city for a change of use to a Bed & Breakfast,” the listing continues.

Woods has also claimed that Morrison wrote “Riders on the Storm” here and that a former tenant not only remembered Morrison offering him marijuana, but also getting into loud arguments with girlfriend Pamela Courson.
