BioBridge Global Employees Celebrate Team Spirit with Five Days of BBG Team Week Activities
San Antonio, Texas (PRWEB) August 24, 2015 -- With everything from a singing vice president to a 7-foot-3 blood drop prancing around the grounds, last week was a memorable one at BioBridge Global (BBG).
It was all part of BBG Team Week, which rolled together five days of activities that even included a major blood drive sponsored by two San Antonio television stations.
“BBG Team Week was remarkable in many ways,” said chief executive officer Linda Myers. “It was great to see people and the organization in a whole new light, and a great way for us to engage with people who do lifesaving work every day. It really was a team-building experience.”
The week began with an inspirational speech to employees from former San Antonio Spurs star Sean Elliott, sponsored by Dahill Office Technology Corp. Elliott, who still lives and works in San Antonio, talked about his experiences working as a member of a team, a theme that continued through the week.
“Character trumps talent every time,” Elliott told the employees. “When it comes right down to it, it’s all about the team. The team is the reason you succeed.”
On Tuesday, company executives presented their overviews of the year – and a look at the coming months – at the BBG Team Summit.
The sports-themed event also included autographed basketballs and baseball books given away as door prizes, as well as Sean Thompson, the company’s vice president for business excellence and the interim chief operating officer (COO) of GenCure, leading the group in singing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.”
Thompson’s presentation was highlighted by an update about new GenCure products coming out later this year.
Dirk Johnson, COO of QualTex Laboratories, praised the teamwork shown across all the business enterprises recently, as well as cooperation with vendors and customers.
Elizabeth Waltman, COO of the South Texas Blood & Tissue Center, thanked those in attendance for their dedication.
“This is a great opportunity to say ‘thank you’ for the work you do every day,” Waltman said. “It’s really important for you to feel thanked and appreciated every day you come to work because of the extraordinary things you do.”
During the event, Myers referred back to the theme of the week.
“We’re trying to highlight teamwork this year, and that’s what’s going to get us across the finish line, functioning as a team,” she said.
On Wednesday, employees came together for hot dogs and snacks at the annual Dog Days of Summer event. Thursday was Team Up Day, when everyone was encouraged to wear jerseys and T-shirts from their favorite sports teams.
Thursday also featured photo opportunities with company mascot Harry Hemoglobin, a 7-foot-3 drop of blood. Photos were posted in a gallery, linked through the BBG intranet page.
All week, employees were encouraged to post compliments about co-workers on Bravo Boards that were posted at all company locations. Photos of many of those compliments were posted in an online gallery on Friday, which was BBG Fan Photo Day.
“We were absolutely thrilled to see the participation on the Bravo Boards,” Myers said. “It was so much fun to read the nice things people were writing about their co-workers and their supervisors.”
San Antonio television stations KABB and WOAI culminated two weeks of promotions with their annual Give to Live blood drive on Friday as well, encouraging donations from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
BBG Team Week was a project managed by the company’s Corporate Communications and Human Resources departments.
