Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a national-level postgraduate examination for admissions to postgraduate engineering programmes such as M.E, M.Tech and direct PhD, which are funded by MHRD and other government agencies.
GATE 2016 is conducted by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru on behalf of the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
Examinations for all the 23 papers will be conducted by an online Computer Based Test (CBT).
The GATE score is valid for a period of three years from the date of declaration of the results.
How to Apply for GATE 2016
Candidates can apply for GATE 2016 only through GOAPS (GATE Online Application Process System) interface provided on official GATE website.
Before submitting applications, you can clarify your doubts by checking out the GATE Information Brochure.
Candidates have to register and fill in the application via online mode only. The photograph and signature of the applicant must be uploaded during the online application.

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Technology / Architecture (4 years after 10+2 / Post B.Sc. / Post-Diploma) B.E/B.TECH/B.ARCH
- Master's degree in any branch of Science/ Mathematics / Statistics/Computer applications or equivalent-M.Sc/M.A./MCA
- Integrated Master's degree programs or dual degree programs in Engineering/Technology (five year programme)- Int M.E./M.Tech or Dual Degree (after 10+2 or Diploma)
- Post-B.Sc Integrated Master's degree programs in Engineering/ Technology (four-year programme) Int M.E./M.Tech (Post B.Sc)
