With the students’ elections another three days away, the student parties in the city colleges were seen announcing their alliances and panels of office-bearers Saturday.
At DAV College, Sector 10, Students’ Organisation of Panjab University (SOPU) has announced its alliance with Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), and has also declared their panel.
The panel comprises Preet Sidhu for the post of president, Tanya for the post of general secretary and Rahul Bansal for the post of joint secretary. There is nobody for the post of vice-president as the nominations filed for the post were deemed ineligible by the college authorities.
The day also saw Students’ Organisation of India (SOI) forging an alliance with Indian Students’ Association (ISA) and Hindustan Students’ Association (HSA) at DAV College.
At GGDSD College, Sector 32, SOPU has joined hands with Indian National Students’ Organisation (INSO) and National Students’ Union of India (NSUI). SOPU, which has adopted a code number of ‘3322’, also declared its panel Saturday, comprising Sachin Galav for the post of president, Neeraj Deshwal for the post of vice-president, Rahul Bajaj for the post of secretary and Maninder Singh for the post of joint secretary.
Meanwhile, Panjab University Students’ Union (PUSU) and SOPU will be seen together for the first time, at Post-Graduate Government College, Sector 46. SOPU leaders Saturday announced their alliance with PUSU and Pal Pehalwan Students’ Organisation (PPSO).
SOPU has already tied up with GGSU, PPSO, NSUI and HSA. Its panel comprises Anurag Gulati for the post of president, Gurdyan Singh for the post of vice-president, Manit Malhotra for the post of general secretary and Ehsanullah for the post of joint secretary.
At Post-Graduate Government College, Sector 11, the SOI-ABVP alliance has not yet declared its panel.
