Nizamabad: People’s representatives, particularly MLAs have adopted villages in their respective areas under Grama Jyothi programme based on the accessibility and presence of their political supporters. They are also hopeful for hefty funds for the adopted village’s development.
Reportedly, the MLAs had chosen either their native villages or politically stronghold villages for the Grama Jyothi programme. For instance, Government Whip, Kamareddy MLA Gampa Govardhan and Yellareddy MLA E. Ravinder Reddy adopted their native villages of Baswapur in Bhiknoor mandal and Errapahad in Tadwai mandal.
Interestingly, Armoor TRS MLA A. Jeevan Reddy selected Makloor and Nandipet mandal headquarters. Sources close to the legislator said that major villages will get huge funds under the programme for integrated development.
Agriculture minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy adopted Someshwer village on the outskirts of Banswada town. Krishna of Kamareddy said that MLAs should take full responsibility of the adopted villages and they must visit the villages for the next four years.
In view of this, they chose easy accessibility he opined. People are also hopeful for development under the programme, he added.
Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Mohammad Ali Shabbir adopted four villages under Kamareddy Assembly constituency limits. He is the only non-TRS legislator to adopt villages under Grama Jyothi programme.
He has chosen along with his native Machareddy mandal headquarters and Chinna Mallareddy in Kamareddy, Mandapur in Domakonda, Ramesh-werpally village in Bhiknoor mandal for adoption. The state government directed the elected representatives to adopt each village.
