A unique golden masthead adorned a regional daily’s front page yesterday to promote a competition run by the newspaper.

Readers of Aberdeen’s Evening Express were greeted with the unusual masthead as it launched a ‘golden giveaway’ offering cash przies of up to £10,000.

Every copy of the Evening Express, pictured below, contained a free ‘golden wallet’ with instant wins of Wispa Gold chocolate bars, or cash prizes ranging from £50 up to £10,000.

The same promotion features in its DC Thomson sister title, Dundee’s Evening Telegraph, today.

Readers of the papers also have the opportunity to win £250 by matching the wieght of gold on a specially-printed game card to the weight ehich is printed in their copy.

In total, more than £100,000 is being offered up by the publisher in prize money.
