1700 kg currency notes destroyed by RBI in central Gujarat

About 1700 kg currency notes were burnt down in incinerator machine at Ankleshwar in central Gujarat by the Reserve Bank of India’s Ahmedabad office.
These currency notes were not fit for circulation as they were damaged in recent flood in Gujarat. RBI had recovered such currency notes from flood affected banks, ATMs and other places. They were brought to Bharuch Enviro Infrastructure Ltd(BEIL) for removal. They were destroyed in scientific way in presence of officials from RBI Ahmedabad, Gujarat Pollution Control Board(GPCB) and BEIL company among others.
