Xiaomi is tight-lipped on its upcoming smartphone dubbed as the Mi 5 but several details, including key specifications have been leaked over the last few weeks with the device's release date drawing close. According to reports, it will have several feature upgrades over its predecessor, the Mi 4.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to be unveiled in August along with a big screen version called Mi 5 Plus. It was expected to be announced in July but that didn't happen.

The Chinese smartphone maker is yet to reveal any detail about its upcoming device but several reports have claimed that it will have at least six feature upgrades over its predecessor, the Mi 4.

Design: Unlike the Mi 4, the upcoming Mi 5 is expected to come with a metal body.

Display: The Xiaomi Mi 4 has 5.0-inch full HD touchscreen with 1920x1080 pixels (441ppi pixel density) but its successor is expected to sport a 5.2-inch QHD touchscreen with 2560 x1440 pixel and protected by Gorilla Glass 4.

Processor: The Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to be powered by either Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, unlike its predecessor's Qualcomm Snapdragon 801.

Operating System: The Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to run on Android Lollipop, while its predecessor runs on Android 4.4.3 KitKat.

Storage: The Xiaomi Mi 4 has 16/64 GB internal storage and 3 GB RAM, while its successor is expected to come packed with 32/64 GB internal storage and 4 GB RAM.

Camera: The Xiaomi Mi 4 houses a 13 MP rear camera and an 8 MP front snapper, while its successor is expected to have a 16 MP main camera and a 13 MP secondary snapper.
