Aso, Abe's right-hand man, not gunning for ruling party presidency

TOKYO -- Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe can rest a little easier: His right-hand man apparently has no plans to turn against him.

Deputy Prime Minister Taro Aso, who doubles as Japan's finance minister, has indicated he will not run in the ruling Liberal Democratic Party's upcoming presidential election. Instead, he intends to continue supporting Abe, the current party leader.
