Yoga centre to be set up at district sports complex

A yoga centre will be set up here at the district sports complex and funds for the same will be allocated by the district administration, Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports S. Sunderarajan said here on Wednesday.

The Minister was inspecting sports infrastructure and nutritional facilities for sportspersons trained under the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT) scholarships here. Mr. Sunderarajan also interacted with the walkers for feedback on the facilities available for the public. He also inspected the SDAT hostel and spoke to the students on the food provided and the availability of uniforms and welfare support for sportspersons.

The gym that lacks equipment was also inspected by the Minister. According to the Sports Minister, funds were already allocated under the MPLADS and the gym would soon be set to work.

Earlier, the badminton indoor court was also inspected and the safeguards for children in the swimming pool in the stadium complex were examined. Collector T.P. Rajesh was present during the inspections.
