Ghanaian defender Wilson Akakpo has changed the content of his existing contract with his current employers Al Masry.

Akakpo who was on holidays in Ghana after the just ended season has to jet back to Port Said to negotiate a change of his contract. His existing contract ends in the 2016/2017 season but has now been renegotiated to 2018.

“It is not a new contract extension. It’s a change of the existing contract. This means I have three seasons left with them. My contract now ends in 2018” Akakpo revealed to Gbc/Volta star radio.

Al Masry in their desperate attempt to put to an end to a possible switch to another Egyptian out-fit moved swift to commit the future of the versatile central defender by a year.

The central defender, who had a nice season with Al Masry became an integral part of the team making 35 out of 38 appearances for the team and scored one goal.

Akakpo moved to the North African side in 2014 after two seasons with Berekum Chelsea in the Ghana Premier League.
