A workshop at Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort today will help Fijian businesses understand where we stand in terms of trade issues with the USA.

This is expected to be one of the focus of the Pacific Island Countries-USA Regional Workshop on Trade, Investment and Private Sector Development.

Fiji-USA Business Council co-opt members and immediate past president, Rajeshwar Singh, said discussions will be held around the fisheries and agricultural products.

“For canned tuna suppliers such as PAFCO, this is a great opportunity to be able get first hand information on further US Market penetration,” he said.

“As well as how the US Department of State could assist with such plans.”

The forum will be opened by the Permanent Secretary for Industry, Trade and Tourism, Shaheen Ali, this morning.

Mr Singh said the Regional Workshop will also facilitate initial discussions on charting an optimal trade and investment arrangement between the Pacific Islands and the US.
