Madras High Court asks Baahubali makers to remove controversial dialogue

It allegedly offended the Arundhathiyar community
The Madurai bench of the Madras High Court had earlier instructed the producers of Baahubali (Tamil version) to remove the controversial dialogue ‘Pagadaikku Pirandhavan’ from the movie, as it allegedly offended the Arundhathiyar community from the movie.
The matter relates to petitions filed by three people, including state organising secretary of Tamil Puligal, C Perarivalan. It stated that the movie dialogue which appears towards the end of the war sequence, is humiliating to the community. The petitioners sought the court’s direction to remove the objectionable dialogue from the film.
However the controversial dialogue is yet to be removed from the film that has crossed five weeks in theatres across the world. The Madras High Court has now directed the government to issue a circular to all District Collectors about the Censor Board’s decision to the caste references in Baahubali and ensure that it is not screened as such in southern Tamil Nadu. It also directs to take penal action against theatres which do not comply with the order.
