Bunking office or skipping duty for registration of land or marriages will be a thing of the past in the city. In a first, the Telangana Stamps and Registrations Department has launched a pilot project in two sub-registrar offices in Hyderabad, which will together operate for 13 hours daily.
While the Bowenpally sub-registrar’s office will be open from 8 a.m. to 2.30 p.m., the Marredpally sub-registrar’s office will function from 2.30 p.m. to 9 p.m. throughout the week. The new initiative was started on Monday. Out of the total of five sub-registrar offices in the city, both these were selected since they are adjoining each other, said Registration Department officials.
“This is part of the best practices that we are adopting after our recent tours. A similar model exists in Maharashtra and we are replicating it here,” informed S. Ashok, District Registrar, Hyderabad.
“This is a citizen-friendly service. Working employees can come either in the morning or late evenings for registrations or collecting certificates, without having to take leave. All those who want to avail services in any sub-registrar offices in Hyderabad district can come to these two centres. Right from Encumbrance Certificates to land registration, all the services will be available in the two offices.” The officials will review the project after a couple of weeks, after which they plan to have a similar model in every district.
