Blaise Matuidi and Thiago Silva scored in the first half as Paris St-Germain continued their 100 per cent start to the season with a 2-0 win over Gazelec Ajaccio.
With the visitors being in the top flight for the first time having turned professional only in 2012, this was GFC Ajaccio’s biggest game in their history.
But it did not take the reigning champions long to spoil the party with Matuidi bursting into the area and unleashing a fierce drive into the roof of the net on 11 minutes.

And ten minutes later, Laurent Blanc’s side threatened to make it an embarrassing night for the Corsicans with skipper Silva powering a header home from Thiago Motta’s corner.
But the second half was a tame affair although PSG should have stretched their advantage with Edinson Cavani failing to direct two headers on target.
The win sees PSG make it two wins out of two while the Corsican minnows have one point.

KEY MOMENTS

KEY STATS

PSG have won their last 11 league games (32 goals scored, nine conceded), their best run in the top-flight
PSG have won their first two games of the season for the first time since 2005.
GFC Ajaccio have won four promotions to reach the top flight.

TALKING POINT

Where will Angel Di Maria fit in PSG’s system? The winger was presented to fans before the game and is set to make his debut on Friday against Montpelier. Debutant Jean-Kevin Augustin looks likely to make way for the Argentine on the right but with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Javier Pastore also to come back, Laurent Blanc has a selection headache over where to play all his marquee signings. If Di Maria plays behind Ibrahimovic it could mean Edinson Cavani’s days are numbered and the Uruguayan did little to improve his case with a quiet display against GFC Ajaccio.

MAN OF THE MATCH

Thiago Silva (PSG): The skipper was strong at the back with his headers and reading of danger which did not give the Corsicans a sniff. And he scored a fine bullet header from a corner and like David Luiz, was always a threat from set pieces.
