Indian recurve mixed pair of Deepika Kumari and Mangal Singh Champia today settled for a silver after losing to their Mexican opponents in the final in the Archery World Cup Stage 3 here.

The Mexican pair of London Olympics silver medallists Aida Roman and Juan Rene Serrano took a 3-1 lead after the second end before winning the gold with a an easy 5-1 win in a one-sided contest.

India thus concluded their campaign in the Stage 3 of the World Cup with one gold and one silver. Having beaten in the bronze play-off in men's compound team event, Abhishek Verma claimed the gold in the individual event yesterday to open India's account.

Both the teams had a consistent start in the summit clash as the Mexican duo shot four 9s en route to 36, something that was matched by Deepika and Champia. Locked 1-1, the Mexicans shot two perfect 10s, including both closest to the centre, to take the second end 37-35.

Needing to win the third end to keep their hopes alive, the Indian pair lost out by one point as the Mexican duo sealed the issue without any hiccup.

Maintaining their consistency, Aida and Serrano once again shot two perfect 10s en route to 37, while Deepika and Champia managed 36 to lose out on a second gold medal from the Stage 3 World Cup.
