Hyderabad: GPS and GPRS trackers have been mandated in all public service vehicles but there is no clarity so far on how it will be implemented. Earlier, auto unions, private buses and cab companies had opposed the move due to the huge installation cost invol-ved, but the Telangana State transport department is serious about the new rule charted under the road safety plan.
“Public service vehicles operating in the limits of GHMC, Hyderabad, will be fitted with tracking device with GPS/GPRS facility connected with the Central Control Room established by Hyderabad City Police for identifying the vehicle in cases of exigencies,”noted the transport department in the new order.
