In yet another incident of violence on college campus, leaders of two student parties clashed with each other at GGDSD College, Sector 32. The clash occurred between the leaders of Sanatana Dharma College Union (SDCU) and Students’ Organisation of India (SOI) around 11 am in the canteen of the college.
Abhishek Sharma, a member of SDCU, was attacked by Gurjinder (alias Garry) of SOI with a glass bottle.
He was taken to GMCH, Sector 32, for treatment. Sharma is a final-year BA student at SD College, whereas Gurjinder was an outsider, who had come to seek admission in BA second year at the college. Along with Gurjinder, three other students of SD College were involved in the clash.
According to Dean Students Welfare, Dr Safri Lal, the three students have been suspended from the college for now. The college authorities also informed that due to the increase in violence on campus owing to the student elections, around a dozen more security guards had been deployed on the college campus. Gurjinder was taken to the Sector 34 police station.
However, no case was registered against Gurjinder as the two leaders decided to settle their differences amicably.
