PUNE: The
Foodgrain distribution office of Pune (FDO), which
monitors supply of foodgrains,
kerosene and LPG cylinders to
fair price ration shops and
gas distributors, has planned to
intensify action against illegal stocking, refilling and supply of domestic LPG cylinders.
In recent checks FDO authorities seized over 200 cylinders being stocked illegally at an unauthorized shed. Authorities have registered a complaint with the local police and were in process of cancelling license of the gas agency concerned.
Authorities have said that checks will continue and have warned gas distributors not to indulge in illegal use of cylinders.
A senior official in FDO said, "We have already told gas distributors to maintain record of every cylinder they receive from fuel companies. Our officials are conducting random checks. The agencies should be able to furnish details during the checks. Failure to furnish details or those found with unaccounted for cylinders could face strong action", an official said.
Meanwhile, the office has also warned distributors not to stock cylinders in residential societies and private places in illegal manner. Official said that they have received complaints from citizens about stocking of gas cylinders in private areas. As per rules, stocking of cylinders is allowed only at the authorized sheds/godowns having necessary safety measures and security arrangements.
