Mumbai tailor held for rape by Hyderabad Police

The victim went missing on August 6

Hyderabad: A man from Mumbai who had allegedly kidnapped and raped a minor girl who lives in the Charminar area was arrested by the city police on Wednesday.

Mohsin Parvez Kazi who came to the city to work as a tailor lured the victim and took her to Mumbai a week ago. Following a complaint from her parents, South Zone Police traced the girl at Vashi bus station in Mumbai.

According to the police, Mohsin, a native of Kurla, Mumbai, came to work in the city at a cloth shop and met the 16-year-old girl.

“After a few months, he lured the girl with promises of marriage. He took her Mumbai, and was planning to travel with her to Goa,” said Kalapathar inspector Rudra Bhaskar.

The victim went missing on August 6. After her parents lodged a complaint, the police traced her in Mumbai within three days. However, Mohsin had gone absconding. “We found her when they were about to board a bus to Goa. But, he escaped from there,” Mr Bhaskar said.

The victim told the police that she had been raped multiple times by the accused in Mumbai and in Hyderabad. Police booked a case of rape and started searching for Mohsin.

“The accused himself came to Hyderabad for some work, and we arrested him,” the official said.
