Legacy 450

Embraer has received type certification from the Brazilian Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) for its Legacy 450 mid-light executive jet.

Certification was granted at the Latin American Business Aviation Conference and Exhibition (LABACE) in São Paulo, Brazil.

The approval campaign included two prototype aircraft featuring flight test instruments and production-conforming interiors, respectively.

Legacy 450 and the Legacy 500 have commonalities of around 95%, Embraer said.

The company plans to start deliveries of the 450 model from the fourth quarter.

Embraer Executive Jets president and CEO Marco Túlio Pellegrini said: "This aircraft is also a game-changer in the mid-light segment.

"With better speed, range and field performance than originally planned, the Legacy 450 sets a new standard for its class."

The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) plan to grant certification in the coming weeks.

Embraer engineering and technology vice-president Humberto Pereira said: "We are especially thrilled with the Legacy 450 certification, delivering on our commitment to reach this milestone just one year after the Legacy 500.

"The Legacy 450 introduces true innovation in its class."

Powered by two Honeywell HTF 7500E turbofan engines, the Legacy 450 will incorporate fly-by-wire technology, including side-stick flight controls, and a Rockwell Collins Pro Line Fusion avionics suite with four 15.1in LCD displays.

The aircraft will have a range of 4,769km, and fly at maximum altitude of 45,000ft.
