LONDON — The BBC and The Weinstein Company have released the first images of their epic drama “War and Peace,” adapted by Andrew Davies.
The photographs show “Cinderella” and “Downton Abbey” star Lily James as Natasha Rostova, James Norton as Prince Andrei Bolkonsky, and Paul Dano as Pierre Bezukhov. The cast also includes Jim Broadbent as Prince Bolkonsky, Gillian Anderson as Anna Pavlovna, and Rebecca Front as Anna Mikhailovna.
Filming took place in Russia, Lithuania and Latvia.
The six-part series is directed by Tom Harper, whose credits include “The Scouting Book for Boys,” “Peaky Blinders” and “Woman In Black: Angel of Death.”
“War and Peace” is produced by BBC Cymru Wales Drama in partnership with The Weinstein Company and BBC Worldwide/Lookout Point. The series airs in the U.K. on BBC One this winter. In the U.S., the show will air on A+E Networks’ Lifetime, A&E Network and History simultaneously later this year.
