Kannada controversy: Puneeth Rajkumar reacts
A popular English daily had recently reported that the torch-bearer of the Rajkumar legacy, Puneeth Rajkumar, did not know how to read or write Kannada. It was said that during a karaoke party at cousin Raghvendra Rajkumar's house, Puneeth said that he couldn't read Kannada when it was his turn to sing a Kannada song from a prompter. The reason for this was said to be his Chennai upbringing.

Puneeth has sent a letter to the daily, demanding that they apologize as he can not only speak, but can fluently read and write Kannada as well. In the letter, Puneeth said that although he did grow up in Chennai, he was determined to learn to read and write Kannada. He added that he is a proud Kannadiga and is even prouder of the fact that he can read and write the language fluently.
The actor added that he would seek legal recourse if the daily failed to issue an apology.
