One of Manchester's most successful fringe theatre companies Vertigo Theatre Productions are back this November with the new drama/thriller Ascension opening Nov 17th - 24th at The Kings Arms.

The award winning and MTA-nominated company have had a hugely successful career on the fringe scene including the five-star hit plays Porno Chic, Last Dance, Watching Goldfish Suffocate, Rage, Mysterious Skin and M to name but a few; now the team present a unique and controversial play that is sure to get audiences talking.

Ascension tells the story of gay couple Nathan and Richard who have an unconventional relationship; one of them is a dominant, a power-seeking bully who believes he is above the common man and that they exist only to satisfy him, the other his submissive who will do anything he is told. The relationship, however, takes a drastic and deadly turn when Nathan reveals that his lust and craving for domination goes much deeper and the only way he feels he can live is if he lets the beast out of the cage, no matter who he has to hurt in order to feel alive, The two begin a terrifying descent in to chaos, sex and violence, but will Richard's obsession with Nathan lead him down a dark path towards the ultimate Thrill Kill?

Ascension is a brutal and uncompromising look in to the mind of a psychopath and the man obsessed with him, highly stylised and controversial. With critically acclaimed actor Richard Allen (Porno Chic, Mysterious Skin, Watching Goldfish Suffocate and Last Dance) and newcomer to the fringe scene Ryan McMyler (Last Dance) taking on the lead roles, this promises to be something you have never seen on stage before. The show also features a fantastic ensemble including Stuart Reeve (acclaimed for his performance in Last Dance), Celine Constantinides (part of the MTA award nominated Watching Goldfish Suffocate), Paul Worrall and Benjamin Corry (Porno Chic) and newcomer making his fringe debut Sean Roberts.

Ascension is written and directed by award winning Craig Hepworth who is the in house writer and director for Vertigo

Vertigo are also thrilled to announce that their original play Porno Chic will also be returning to the region next year prior to opening in London sometime next year. And the next original play from Vertigo 12305 Fifth Helena Drive will open next May and will tell the story of last few hours of Marilyn Monroe's life but from the angle that she was murdered.

Ascension is running from the 17th - 20th Nov and then the 23rd to the 24th Nov at The Kings Arms, tickets are expected to sell fast

Please note Ascension contains nudity, graphic violence and sex as well as themes some may find disturbing.
