Abercrombie and Fitch is the latest retailer to reverse its use of on-call shifts after a lawsuit against Victoria’s Secret alleged that the practice is illegal. The controversial policy forces employees to call the store two to three hours prior to the scheduled shift and ask a manager whether or not the store is busy enough to require their services. If they are not needed, employees are not paid. Abercrombie revealed their decision Tuesday after having received a letter from the New York State Attorney General’s office in April inquiring about the company’s practices. One small step for Abercrombie, one giant leap for retail workers. [BuzzFeed]
