To commemorate the recent opening of its Chunnakam branch and relocating of its Jaffna branch, Softlogic Finance PLC assisted deserving schoolchildren living in Jaffna and surrounding areas to achieve their educational aspirations by donating much-needed school equipment, books and stationery.

This donation was done in the presence of a number of senior company officials, in collaboration with Rotary International, as part of the latter’s island-wide ‘Education for all’ community initiative. The beneficiaries were selected by the Rotary Club of Colombo Fort and Rotary Club of Jaffna, from deserving students between the ages of 11 and 18 years, who are finding it difficult to bear their educational expenses. By directing funds from the private sector in Jaffna, the ‘Education for all’ program assists particularly students who have lost their parents due to the war and other reasons and are living in childcare centres.

A substantial number of students received assistance in fulfilling their requirements with regard to books, stationery etc. for education purposes, through the contribution of Softlogic Finance. While a majority of the beneficiaries were deserving schoolchildren from the Urumpirai Hindu College who have performed well in their studies, a considerable number of deserving students from schools in Chunnakam and surrounding areas also benefited from the donation.

“Besides the profit objective, contributing towards the wellbeing of the society too is a primary obligation of a commercial entity, which also enables the company to develop close ties with the community,” Softlogic Finance PLC CEO Nalin Wijekoon said. “Softlogic Finance has high hopes for the region, especially following the establishment of a new branch at Chunnakam and the re-locating its Jaffna branch. We believe that initiatives such as these will enable us to build a strong and healthy relationship with the community and to make a positive impact on many lives.”
