Speaking to journalists at an event in Mumbai, the director stated, "I wanted the film to receive a 'U/A' certificate. So, I thought I should give it a try and go for it. At the same time, I wanted to promote the songs of the film and make sure that the publicity is done well since several films are coming up around this time."

He also added, "We will know from the censors about the 'U/A' certification in the next 4-5 days, only then I'll know what the position of the film is."

A few days ago, the filmmaker courted much controversy when he blamed the CBFC for delays in the release of Calendar Girls. Speaking about the reported cuts in the movie, Bhandarkar clarified that while the Censor Board has given an 'A' certificate to the film, they haven't made any cuts in the film.

CBFC Chief Pahlaj Nihalani had also told reporters that they had only cut some cuss words from the film, which will not hamper the flow of the story in any way. He also pointed out that most of Bhandarkar's films are directed at adults, and don't need a 'U/A' certification.
