The Shard was evacuated this morning after a fire broke out in a 33rd floor restaurant.

Some 100 customers were ordered to leave the eateries on the 31, 32 and 33 levels of London’s tallest building after a blaze in an oven, according to reports.

No-one was injured in the incident. A total of 35 firefighters attended the scene at around 11:10 a.m.

But the flames were soon extinguished by the restaurant’s own sprinkler system.

“A small oven fire in one restaurant immediately set off the sprinkler system,” said a spokesman for The Shard.

“All three restaurants have been evacuated and the London Fire Brigade has attended as per standard procedure,” he added.

An investigation into the fire is now underway.
