Nearly 75 lakh unemployed youths in Punjab: Congress

After accusing the SAD-BJP government for twisting the drug addiction figures,the Punjab Congress has now slammed the government for having failed to curb the unemployment in the state.

Lambasting on the Punjab Government senior Youth Congress leader Deepinder Singh Randhawa said that tall claims by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for providing jobs to lakhs of unemployed youth is not only a white lie but great mischief.

"It has became a fashion among members of Badal family, Chief Minister and his son Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal in particular,to make false statements and then push in false advertising campaign to make people believe their falsehood," Deepinder Singh Randhawa said.

The Youth Congress leader said that ShiromaniAkaliDal(SAD) had in its manifesto for 2007-12 had promised to fill 1.50 lakh vacancies and had also promised to create another 10 lakh jobs is its 2012-17 election manifesto. The unemployed youth of Majha, Malwa and Doaba regions was given false hope that One lakh jobs would be generated in IT sector by developing IT hub," he added.

Deepinder Randhawa said that about 75 lakh youth were unemployed in Punjab and number is adding up every year. The official data on employment generation has revealed that the employment rate in Punjab was just at an average of 5 to 6 percent since the time SAD-BJP government took over in 2007. The figure is more worse in case of reserved categories.

Deepinder asked the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to clarify government stand on it and stop befooling people by holding Progressive Punjab Investment Summit or issuing fake propaganda of giving jobs to lakhs of youth. He said that Congress party would expose all the misdeeds of SAD-BJP government. He said that the unemployed youth was promised Rs.1000 per month unemployed youth. This promise remained unfulfilled.
