The District Sessions Court-II, Kancheepuram, on Monday awarded life sentence to a painter for murdering the wife of his employer.

According to the public prosecutor, Mohan used to demand money frequently from Arumugam, a painting contractor. On September 13, 2010, he went to Arumugam’s house at Ambal Nagar, Mangadu, and demanded money from his wife Kamatchi (33). When she refused, he strangulated her with a piece of cloth and took away four sovereigns of gold chain from her. Judge R. Ganesan awarded life sentence and seven years imprisonment to Mohan.
