It’s official: BBMP polls on Aug 22

BENGALURU: Ending all speculation, BBMP commissioner G Kumar Naik on Monday issued a notification confirming elections to the local body on August 22. The results will be announced on August 25.
As many as 71.8 lakh voters will elect corporators for 198 wards. A total of 6,733 polling stations will be set up, each covering 1,500 voters. The notification says the model code of conduct has been in place since July 17 when the State Election Commission announced the polls.It will be in effect till August 26.
Those who are yet to register to vote can do so till August 10, which is also the last date for candidates to file their nomination papers.
