Diagonal traffic causes jams at Kherki Daula
GURGAON: Traffic moving from Manesar to the Haldiram service lane of the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway triggers long queues at the Kherki Daula toll plaza.
The problem, prevalent during peak hours, arises because there is no easy way to go to the Haldiram service lane while going from Manesar to Gurgaon.
The only alternative to avoid this anti-directional traffic is to drive 8km to Rajiv Chowk from the toll plaza and then drive back, which means an extra 16km.
“In order to avoid the long detour, most commuters prefer to head for the service lane of the Manesar-Gurgaon side but as a result, the traffic on both the sides comes to a standstill,” Vijay Rana, a commuter, said.
Another daily commuter, Ramit Aggarwal, said this distrupts traffic in both dirctions. The traffic problem becomes worse when some vehicles coming from Gurgaon take a U-turn at the toll plaza .
A senior official of Skylark Highway Solutions said the traffic snarl can be eased only when the alternative routes towards Kherki Daula become operational.
No NHAI representative could be contacted for comment.
