Man wanted for 24 years nabbed

Prakash Meshram, alias Pakkya, who was wanted in a case of robbery registered against him and two others in January 1991, was netted by a Sakkardara police team on Monday. He was later produced before the court and remanded to custody.

Police said Meshram, Raju Shrivas and Padya Damle had robbed a trader at knifepoint and took cash 1,300.
Four people arrested for assaultNagpur: Wadi police have arrested four people for allegedly assaulting 25-year-old Roshan Hane over a robbery at Tazne layout on Sunday afternoon.
Hane was attacked with sharp weapons and is undergoing treatment at Government Medical College and Hospital. Hane claimed in his police complaint that he was working at a construction site at Tazne layout, Waddhamna, when the alleged attackers identified as Tatoba Ingole, 53, his son Gajanan Ingole, Sandeep Kshirsagar and Raja Neware accused him of involvement in a robbery of iron rings and assaulted him. Tazne collapsed due to his injuries while the attackers fled away. Later, on Tazne's complaint, police arrested four people while Neware is absconding.
Two houses burgled
Nagpur: Burglars struck it rich at two different places in the city and decamped with valuables worth more than 3.97 lakh in separate incidents. In the first incident, Kalambe family’s residence at Govind Prabhu Nagar was burgled by thieves, who fled with valuables worth 1.47 lakh including 30,000 cash. In second case, burglars decamped with valuables worth around 2.50 lakh, including cash 40,000, from the residence of Ugemuge family at Raghuji Nagar.

Two arrested
Nagpur: Two persons, identified as Prateek Chavan and Vinay Chawariya alias Bukka, were arrested for extorting 500 from a vegetable vendor at Gokulpeth market on Monday. The duo also ransacked the shop after its owner Bhanumati Gupta refused to part with the money demanded by them.
Gupta, after being targeted by Chavan and Chawariya, approached Ambazari police station to lodge a complaint. The duo was arrested by Ambazari cops, who charged them with offences of extortion.
Youth murdered in Wardha
Wardha: A 25-year-old young man was murdered in an alleged revenge killing on Sunday night at Swawalambi School Ground, Sainagar, in Wardha. Police said that Sandesh Kamble, friend of deceased Ajaysigh Thakur (25), a resident of Shanti Nagar, had gone to meet Pankaj alias Vikki Chaube at Sainagar. After some discussion, Vikki and three friends suddenly attacked Ajay with a sharp knife. Ajay died before reaching hospital. Pankaj has been arrested and remanded to PCR till August 7. PI M Burade said there may be three more accused in the murder as investigation is in progress.
