Over 500 students of Rajiv Gandhi College of Arts, Science and Commerce at Vashi sector 10A held a colourful 'Umbrella Rally' today to drive home the message of Road Safety.

NAVI MUMBAI: Over 500 students of Rajiv Gandhi College of Arts, Science and Commerce at Vashi sector 10A held a colourful 'Umbrella Rally' today to drive home the message of Road Safety.
Holding umbrellas each of which had messages regarding road traffic safety were held up by the youngsters as they walked from Shivaji Chowk to Centre One in Vashi.
''Since it is currently monsoon season, we decided to do something more useful and painted our umbrellas with vibrant colours and messages like `Don't drink and drive', 'Speed thrills but kills' among others,'' said a participant at the rally.

The local traffic cops also appreciated this gesture by the students who took some time off their busy academic schedule to do this creative and much needed rally in the satellite city which had recently seen a spate of fatal accidents.
In the past 15 days, two teenaged girl students aged 16 and 19 years were killed in road accidents on the Vashi bridge. They were pillion riding on two-wheelers which were hit by other vehicles on the road.
