LEH, Aug 3: The Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh with its vision to promote traditional archery in Ladakh has decided to streamline this special sport by organizing traditional archery tournaments in coming days in a planned way for which separate account head was created with allocation of funds already under the direction of CEC, LAHDC, Leh Rigzin Spalbar.
In this regard a meeting of Youth Services and Sports Department, Cultural Academy, Leh and Traditional Archery Society of Ladakh (TASOL) was held under the chairmanship of Executive Councilor for Youth Services and Sports Gyurmet Dorjey in his office chamber, here today.
The EC Gyurmet Dorjey, while addressing the meeting said that traditional archery of Ladakh since time immemorial has strengthened and nourished unity, brotherhood and harmony of Ladakhi society and recognizing the values of this wonder sport and its rapid growth and progress in last few years, the present Hill Council has decided to establish traditional archery in the sports calendar of Leh district in a comprehensive way.
To finalize the blueprint of the annual tournament, a committee comprizing of Special Officer for Culture, Tsewang Paljor, officers and teachers of Youth Services and Sports Department and members of TASOL was framed under the directions of EC Gyurmet Dorjey which will submit their proposal in next two days for final approval from the Hill Council and later an MoU between Youth Services and Sports Department, Cultural Academy and TASOL will be signed.
The Special Officer for Culture, Tsewang Paljor also spoke on the occasion.
