CHANDIGARH: About 24 days after sealing the building of NGO Theatre Age in Sector 24, whose director Zulfikar Khan was arrested on sodomy charges, the investigation agency on Monday urged the education department to take possession of the property.
Khan was operating his NGO from five rooms at Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Sector 24. Two rooms in the portion of the building of NGO were already being used by the school management for music classes, although.
The police have sent a letter to the education department. Police sources said the decision was taken after completing all legal formalities in the view of preparing a charge sheet against Khan. Inspector Narinder Patial of Sector 11 police station said, "All record books related to the NGO have been seized from the building. The offence of sodomy took place somewhere else, not in the institute's building. The police letter was received by education department officials."
Khan was arrested for allegedly having unnatural sex with his NGO inmates on July 11. He remained in police custody for six days. Four victims had recorded their statements against him under Section 164 of CrPC. Khan's four pictures in objectionable positions with the victims were sent for forensic examination to Central Forensic Science Laboratory, Sector 36.
The police claimed to have detected five properties registered in the names of relatives of Khan in Chandigarh and three bank accounts with Rs 19 lakh. The police had requested enforcement directorate (ED) and income tax department officials to further probe the sources of wealth of Khan.
