Pkl MC asks Hry for smart city re-entry

PANCHKULA: The municipal corporation (MC) on Monday wrote a letter to the Haryana government asking it to reconsider Panchkula's entry in the smart city competition.
Around a week ago, local MLA Gian Chand Gupta had made the same request to the urban development ministry. Gupta, in his letter, had said Panchkula failed to take part in the competition due to the negligence of the administration and municipal corporation (MC) officials.
Panchkula had received 55 marks out of 80 in the competition but officials had forgotten to mark points under a number of parameters. According to MC officials, after consideration of these points, Panchkula would secure 90 marks out of 100. Mayor Upinder Kaur Ahluwalia, said, "We have sent the letter mentioning a few more points to the Haryana government to reconsider Panchkula in the smart city competition."
