Councilor Wu moving to Roslindale

For City Councilor Michelle Wu, it is goodbye, South End brownstone: Hello, Rozzie Square.

The at-large city councilor and her husband moved last week after buying a two-family home on Augustus Avenue off Poplar Street, a few blocks south of Roslindale Square. Wu, who gave birth to a son in December, bid adieu to the West Brookline Street apartment she had rented since 2010.

“It’s bittersweet. The South End is a neighborhood that really rooted me in Boston,” Wu said. “We’ll be taking all of that with us. I still get to represent the South End as an at-large city councilor. I’ll still be around. We’re excited that Roslindale has a lot of young families.”

The move will accommodate Wu’s growing family and allow her to be closer to her mother, who lives 10 minutes away in West Roxbury.

On Monday, Wu formally changed her voter registration to reflect her new address. Wu jointly bought the property with her college roommate, who will live in the second floor unit with her husband and baby. The city councilor and her family will live on the first floor.

“We’re excited to be in a new house and making a new home in Roslindale,” Wu said.
